Rupes DA Fine Pads - High Performance Fine Polishing Pad

The DA FINE automotive fine polishing pad is the most versatile foam pad in the RUPES BigFoot range. It delivers an effective rate of defect removal and capability for high-gloss finishing on most paint systems. Pair with RUPES DA-FINE polishing compound for moderate to fine defect removal, paint refinement, or final finishing after heavy compounding steps.

  • Most versatile of all Rupes foam pads
  • Remove paint defects and leve paint with a high gloss finish
  • Open cell durable foam

This new pad provides the same great performing foam material as the current random orbital yellow foam. It's also  to work with gear-driven orbitals, just with a more vibrant shade of yellow.

Every Aspect of the Foam Polishing Pad, Carefully Considered

The foam pad is an integral part of the overall performance of any polishing system, especially orbital. The RUPES development team  spent countless hours in the development and testing of new D-A FOAM PADS.  It was essentials the pads offered balanced performance, proper heat management, contouring, and versatility. Even the packaging has been developed specifically to protect the foam from UV exposure and degradation.

The all-new automotive fine polishing pads are constructed using new, proprietary foam formulas and maximized for performance on both large stroke random orbital tools and gear-driven orbital tools. Every pad is carefully designed, manufactured, and packaged entirely in-house to our extremely high quality standards.

LOWER PROFILE

In addition to all-new materials the new Foam Pads feature a reduced pad height versus the previous generation. In conjunction with the new materials this new height has been extensively tested to provide improved stability. It allows the D-A Foam Pads to work on both large stroke random orbital tools and gear-driven tools like the BigFoot Mille.

CONTOUR EDGE

The new, unique, contour edge improves pad stability and provides additional control in the curves. This edge shape will be featured on all 3 grades of D-A Foam Pads and in 180mm, 150mm, and 100mm pad sizes.

MORE THAN PACKAGING

The new metallic film flow pack of the D-A Series Foam Pads offers superior protection against accidental rips or piercing to keep your pads as clean as possible until they’re ready for use.

The flow pack also prevents UV exposure to maintain the original integrity of the material regardless of where it is stored.  Clear plastics commonly used in other pad packaging leaves the pads vulnerable to UV damage.

Solid pad

Definately a thumbs up. Pad hold up. I discard mine after 1 use, but this pad seems like it would hold up to a few washes. I use their yellow polish with this pad (also in the 5 inch size) and the combo works well.

Great pad

Look, I didn't expect much in the way of pad quality increase in the last decade. I've worked on most types of pads over the years, old school wool, to microfiber, to even double-sided units for the 7424. The failing of many pads isn't the initial material. It is how the material ages as it is used. Does it build material that impeeds the finish-down qualities of the product, or does it smoothly finish the product down? The second biggest concern is how the backing material is attached. In both of these instances, the rupes pads are well done. The backing material is solidly on. There no rough edge, nor is there an edge that might hit the paint. In multiple on and offs during my recent detail did I find a failure point on any of my pads. Those of you who've been around a while will understand the frustration of taking a pad off and having the backing rip, tear or separate from the pad. A quick brush and a blowout during panels was all it took for the pad to keep finishing down the product. Most of my older pads couldn't do that on a 90 degree 80 80-percent humidity day. These are a big improvement over the pads I used a while ago.

At Phil's recommendation, I'm giving their wool and MF pads a try.
